The first issue of Annals of Constanta Maritime University was published in 2000. As recommended by the Editorial Board, the journal was mainly supposed to feature the original scientific works of the teaching staff. Since its first issue, the journal has covered the maritime field, as well as several connected technical fields: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Mathematics and Physics. Later on, two other sections were added: English for Specific Purposes and Transport & Economics. Starting with 2018, two new sections were added: Maritime Cyber Security and Emergent Technologies and Future Trends and Maritime Sustainable Growth.
The articles featured in the journal throughout the years were signed by academics from Constanta Maritime University and from partner universities from Romania and abroad, as well as by student authors who had presented their papers in the Students’ International Scientific Workshop, a yearly event hosted by our university. Starting with 2009, as students’ workshop was gaining international visibility, a decision was made to publish their papers in the Scientific Bulletin of CMU Students.
Over the years, the scientific level of the journal has been improved by the contribution of reputable experts from national universities and leading international maritime institutions. The journal quickly gained international recognition and entered exchange protocols with universities, academies, publishing houses, libraries and other interested parties.
In line with its tradition, the journal has constantly improved its content and scientific level, thus adding to the prestige of the university.
The Annals of Constanta Maritime University have become our university’s business card and are being disseminated among national and international academic communities, in order to share the research outcomes of our staff and partners. The journal is published once a year. Each submitted article is assessed by two reviewers. A paper needs two positive reviews in order to be published. The Editorial Board of each section includes academics from Constanta Maritime University, other national technical universities and international institutions.
